TLC for Whinstone Cottage

Back in the day, Jude and I were wondering if it was possible to live in Embleton and commute back to Newcastle for work and potentially, over time have an option of one of us transitioning to work up here too. We stayed in a perfect little cottage, Whinstone Cottage, with lovely views of the sea from the sofa, a quirky farmhouse style kitchen, just perfect for the cooking that we enjoy, a garden for our chocolate lab, Charlie, who just loved the easy walk down to the best beach and some lovely coastal walks; maybe with a stop off at The Ship Inn, thrown in for good measure! Fast forward nearly 11 years and we do now live and work up here and are thoroughly enjoying running Beach and Quiet, a deliberately small, holiday rental company based on the Northumberland coast. Deliberately small, so we can offer a bespoke service to both our Owners and Guests; so we were thrilled when we had a call from the Owners of Whinstone Cottage who needed some help in showing the cottage some love and helping it shine and sparkle once more (literally!)

As the Owners are based in the South, they needed local help overseeing works needed to help with the mini make-over, but also ensure that the cottage was fully compliant with all the latest regulations. Over a period of a month, the property has had the cloakroom re-fitted (in my 30 years in the property industry, I've never seen a burgundy loo!) been redecorated throughout in tasteful Farrow & Ball shades, had some new appliances in the kitchen, had the requisite thumb locks and linked heat/smoke detectors fitted, had a new sofa, new blinds/curtains, a new living room rug and finally a damn good clean!

We feel that we have gone 'full circle' now with Whinstone Cottage and are so pleased that it is part of the Beach and Quiet family.
