Dream, Explore, Discover Northumberland
The strapline for the “Visit Northumberland” tourism team, is “Dream, Explore, Discover” and this beautifully evokes the sentiments expressed by a myriad of visitors to this fabulous part of the world. But don’t just take our word for it; previous visitors have already had their say and consistently extol the County’s virtues and make their voices heard ….
….. ‘Mumsnet’ say “Northumberland has been a ‘Mumsnet’ favourite for the past few years and we can't see that changing any time soon – the region has something for everyone.” Find out more about why their community voted Northumberland ‘Number One’ yet again in August 2020 www.mumsnet.com/travel/top-10-uk-holidays
‘Countryfile Magazine’ readers have voted Embleton beach the best in the country, we can see why. It boasts a huge expanse of golden sand, with the dunes rising up behind and all set within the shadow of Dunstanburgh Castle. Embleton joins with the beach at Low Newton, which provides more of a ‘bay’ for little ones dipping their toes in the sea for the first time; both beaches are just one small part of the Northumberland Coastal Path, which stretches from Budle Bay in the North to Alnmouth in the South. From https://beachandquiet.co.uk/our-cottages it’s about an hour at a reasonable pace, to walk to Low Newton. Set off along the bridleway next to the properties towards Dunstanburgh Castle (pic below) then turn left and down onto Embleton beach and along to Low Newton, where you can get a glass of something refreshing at The Ship Inn, which boasts it’s own microbrewery, before heading back!

‘The Telegraph’ also named Northumberland a top location during the ‘Staycations’ boom of Summer 2020 and was just one more accolade for this wonderful part of the world.
So, if you have already experienced the magic of Northumberland, we look forward to welcoming you back. If you’re thinking of giving us a try for the first time, you won’t be disappointed – it’s never been more important for us all to ‘dream’ and soon you will be able to ‘explore’ and ‘discover’ again.
