We had an outstanding stay at Hemmel House over the May bank holiday weekend for my husbands 40th, so much so that we didn’t want to leave. Upon arrival we found a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge from Beach and Quiet and a gorgeous hamper of essential foods in the kitchen gifted by the owners, which was such a lovely surprise. The house itself is amazing, I fell in love with the kitchen and the views. The decor is so stylish and the beds were super comfy which is always an important factor for us.
We can’t wait to return for another stay and Hemmel House will most certainly be our go to stay when visiting the Northumberland coast.

The Hunter-Ainsley party, May 2021

Really enjoyed our stay, house fab, kitchen and dining area a great space with lovely views. Quick and helpful response from Jane when we needed it.

The Dixon family, May 2021

We had a terrific holiday. One of the nicest holiday properties we have stayed in - lovely design, great features and finish.

Very family friendly. Great base to explore the area for the first time. Big hallway and utility room make decamping from the beach and un-sanding as easy as imaginable.

We have already recommended the property to several friends!

Many thanks Jane and Jude- a few comments for you
Hemmel can mean either cowshed or heaven. We would put this wonderful house closer to the latter. The layout is generous and practical, but above all everything shouts quality. It is properly equipped, well furnished with super comfortable beds.
The house is set in beautiful countryside close to beaches. A perfect place for walking and cycling.

Dear Jude and Jane,
Thank you for your email.
We had a wonderful holiday at Hemmel House.
The house was beautiful, extremely well equipped and immaculately clean.
Thank you also for the tips on places to go and to eat - we followed your advice for restaurants and cafes and all our meals were superb! Just to mention that we were glad that we booked our evening meals well in advance as most restaurants were fully booked by the time we arrived.
We would love to return to the area in the future and would highly recommend Hemmel House :)
Best wishes,

The Cowley Family, July 2021

Dear Jane ,

Thank you for being so helpful, advising on restaurants and places to go . We loved Hemmel house , the standard of everything was excellent. Good night sleep all round as the beds were really comfortable and relaxing. Idyllic place for morning coffee, watching the sheep graze. The views were amazing, the location was ideal and we had all the comforts we needed. We had some lovely walks around the area.

We would love to return one day.

Dear Jude and Jane
Hemmel House is a very special place we all throughly enjoyed our stay thank you. So well equipped warm and cosy, we even used the tripod to photograph the V rocket wednesday evening.
We only visited the local pub one evening which tells you we just didn’t want to leave the house. But of course we did explore during the day and enjoyed walks from the door and further a field.
The early part of the week breakfast on the patio started the day very well. I don’t think the back security light worked but maybe that was so you could enjoy the dark skies.
We used Serenity boats tours which were excellent to see the seals and regularly used Craster smokehouse. Holy island and Alnwick were good too. A walk from Ingram to Linhope spout waterfall very enjoyable also the hills around Cuthberts cave.
Beaches at Bamburgh, Boulmer, Benthall and of course Embleton were fantastic.
Your service was spot on thank you so much and the welcome basket made for a great start the the holiday.
We all want to return to Hemmel House if it wasn’t so far from home I think it would be sooner rather than later.
Kind regards

Dear Jude and Jane,
Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
Hemmel House is a beautiful and well appointed property.
As an architect, I loved the sense of space within the house and the dramatic vistas from it.
Everything about the house oozed quality.
The location is perfect. It proved to be a great base from which to explore Northumberland.
Can’t wait to return.
Kind regards,

We had a fantastic week. On arrival, everything was extremely clean and welcoming, including the food hamper - spot on! The house itself was in a lovely peaceful location with wonderful views across the fields to Dunstanburgh Castle. We really loved the design which felt extremely well considered, functional yet beautiful, making the most of the fantastic setting. Everything felt very well thought through and the house was both spacious and extremely warm and cosy. The kitchen was well equipped and a lovely space in which to cook and eat. Thank you too, for making communications simple and responsive. As ever, we ran out of days to do all the things we like to do in the region and very much hope to return soon.

Hi Jude/Jane,

We had an absolutely wonderful stay. Hemmel House is really stunning and we had the best and most comfortable stay! We also took on board some of your recommendations of local restaurants which were great - The Jolly Fisherman and The Joiners Arms.

Thank you again and we have already talked about booking next year so the discount is really appreciated!

Dear Jude and Jane,
We enjoyed a fantastic stay at Hemmel House. We have been visiting Northumbria and it’s coast for a number of years, but can honestly say the house is the best accommodation we’ve stayed in. It ticks all the boxes you need for an extremely comfortable and luxurious stay. The welcome pack was a nice touch. Thanks to you both for looking after us during our stay.

David & Ali, Cumbria, June 2022

Dear Jude and Jane ,
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay at Hemmel House. It was such a special place to celebrate my 70th birthday!
The house itself is beautiful and well stocked with everything you might need. You have thought of everything.
The views were amazing from our bedroom and the kitchen/ dining room and the lounge which I repeatedly commented on .
We had a lovely meal at the Jolly Fisherman and came back and danced in the spacious dining area . My granddaughter had brought their disco ball and balloons. 🎉🎈
It was a perfect place to have a family party and we will definitely return. I have passed the link to several friends.
Also thank you for the card. A thoughtful touch .

'Dancing Queen on her 70th birthday', September 2022

We stayed at Hemmel House Craster between 3 & 7 October 2022.
We being 2 couples, 4 people in late 60's, early 70's with one member having a heart condition disability.
On arriving at the location we found ample parking with space for 4 cars.
The location of the property is fantastic with outside areas & furniture which in the better weather would be fantastic. We did see some breathtaking sunrises however from the panoramic view from the kitchen & lounge areas. Although there is a road outside when indoors there was no noise - very quiet. Being a mile from Craster & close to other places to visit couldn't ask for a better location.
On entering the property we all got the 'wow' impression which didn't leave us throughout the stay.
A very comprehensive welcome pack set the standard of quality & organisation.
Our member with the additional needs found the downstairs bedroom & facilities catering very well for his needs.
Upstairs bedroom offered everything we needed with a very comfortable bed & quality bedding.
Equipment at same quality level & couldn't get enough of the ice machine & easy access hatch on large fridge in kitchen.
We felt 'at home' very quickly spending the majority of our time in kitchen / dining area.
No negatives - although we looked, only comment we would make was a lack of direct USB connections - we managed using plug adapters.

The Lawson party, October 2022

Jude / Jane,

Just wanted to say that we really enjoyed our stay at Hemel House, it is an amazing house in a fantastic location, we will definitely be back.

Hi Jane,
We’ve just had a most successful stay at Hemmel House: it was an absolute pleasure in every respect. Please could you also pass on our thanks to the owners, whom we met very briefly last Friday.

The Boulding Family, February 2023

I would just like to say

Thank you for everything hope to be back soon have not stopped talking about our holiday.

The Neves Family, February 2023

Hi,
I want to offer some feedback to our 9 day stay at Hemmel House this month as part of my wife’s 60th birthday celebrations.
I was recommended to your company by my sister who said you were a good quality company to book with.
From my first contact with Jane I was instantly reassured about the booking and my choice.
Jane knew the property in great detail as she said it was part of her role to get to know as many of the properties as possible.
Her advice and help was simply outstanding and so useful.
I had advice on places to eat and visit which was very helpful and helped me get the best table at a restaurant for my wife’s birthday meal.
Jane was always available when I called and able to assist me.
The property was simply outstanding and everything I was told about, the small touches like the welcome pack was very nice and helpful.
I would book again without hesitation and have already passed the company details to a friend...........

..................The level of quality equipment installed at the property was fantastic and there was nothing we wanted for at all.
Clearly the owners had spent a lot of time and money fitting the property out very well.
Thanks for a fantastic holiday home.
Kind regards

The Bates Family, April 2023

Thank you so much for our wonderful stay . Hemmel House is stunning and perfect in every way.
The kitchen / dining room had everything we could want and I rarely strayed from the huge patio window when in the house, and not out and about. Changing skies , birds, a mini murmuration - magical.

Beds were really comfortable with crisp white linen and every detail had been carefully thought about to make this a real home from home for us.

The house is perfectly located for Northumbrian exploration and we will certainly return

The Goodchild Party, October 2023

Dear Jude and Jane

Not on social media, so will send you our feedback direct.

We had a lovely week at Hemmel House, despite driving rain for the first 3 days of our stay. Mark and I thought it was probably the best appointed property we've stayed at in the UK (and have stayed at many). Plenty of space, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed for our week there. The location was also perfect for everything we wanted to see and do. Thank you very much for sending us the email with ideas of things to do and places to eat which was very helpful and much appreciated, particularly as we'd not visited Northumberland before.

A highlight of our stay was a funny little weasel who visited the garden each day!

Jackie's Party, October 2023

Hi Jude and Jane

Apologies for the delay replying to your e-mail.

We had a wonderful few days at Hemmel House and we hope that one day we will return. The house is quite spectacular! Loved it from the minute we walked in, the space, the views, the whole feel of it. The information we received from you before we went was outstanding and very helpful for us to plan pre holiday and whilst we were there. Can’t speak highly enough about the whole experience. Such a wonderful part of the country as well.

Thanks again and hope to be in contact soon
Kind Regards

Sue's Party, October 2023

Dear Jude and Jane,

Sorry for the slight delay in replying to your e-mail. Just trying to get back to normal again after our break away at Hemmel House.
Firstly, I must say that the property was beautiful. John and myself are seasoned Self Caterers and have used many Self Catering Companies over the years. This property certainly excels all of the others we have used. The owners have certainly thought it through when they designed and built Hemmel House. It was warm and no draughts and at this time of year it does make a difference. There was Everything was provided for us to be self sufficient for the week. We were able to cook for ourselves without any problems as there was a good supply of utensils in the kitchen. (The coffee cups could be somewhat larger.) The Welcome Basket was also a nice touch.
Your cleaners need to be congratulated for the work they had done as it is the 1st time whereby I have not felt that I have had to go round the property ensure that its okay to unpack and cook (I tell you no lie!) It was exceptionally clean. Thankyou!
The views from the rear of the property are wonderful. A plus for the week was that I was able to get some photos of the Northern Lights. The position of the property also gives good access to footpaths locally and it is a 10 minute walk into Craster. We have spent a number of holidays in Northumberland so have visited many of the well known areas around Dunstan, so as the weather was not at its best for most of the week we did spend more time at the property.

Finally, I do not have any issues in recommending Hemmel House to our friends and family and will certainly be booking again next year. I hope that you decide not to expand your portfolio of properties too much as I feel that you do provide your clients with a more personal touch. Many of the large letting agencies have become too large and are unable to keep control of the upkeep and maintainance of their portfolio.

Many thanks
